DA Hall & Co
Founded by Doug Hall in 1958 on the Darling Downs. What started as a family egg operation has grown into one of Queensland's most significant free range producers. Doug passed in 2010, but the Hall family retains 40% ownership to this day. The current CEO and Managing Director is Greg Quinn.
The Land
Multiple rural properties within 45km of Millmerran in southern Queensland. All pastures are organic and chemical-free. No pesticides, no synthetic fertilisers. Hens roam freely on open ground.
Scale Done Right
Ellerslie runs a large operation, but stocking density tells the real story. At 1,500 hens per hectare, they sit at 15% of the 10,000/ha legal maximum for "free range" in Australia. Scale and welfare are not mutually exclusive when the land is there to support it.
The Feed
DA Hall built their own feedmill in 1983. Every batch of feed is organic, GMO-free, and produced in-house. No outsourced feed, no unknown inputs. They control the supply chain from grain to egg.
ACO Certification
Ellerslie is certified by Australian Certified Organic (ACO). Independently audited. The certification covers feed composition, pasture management, stocking density, animal welfare, and processing. It is not a self-declared claim.
